9 Teens charged in Girl's Suicide

In Massachusetts, 9 teenagers were charged in relation to Phoebe Prince's suicide on January 14. Two of them were charged with statutory rape, and 6 girls were charged with violation of civil rights and bodily injury. She was apparently lead to suicide because of the constant bullying and abuse she had to undertake from her classmates for a period of 3 months.

Even though this took place in US, this has a large global importance. Bullying is one of the worst things that goes on in high school. People make fun of other people because of who they've gone out with, what they look like, or sometimes for no reasons at all. People who may find this funny shouldn't be laughing because it leads to situations like this. It doesn't just happen in one school, it happens everywhere and I think people should be kinder to people and have more sympathy.

Female Suicide Bomber blamed for Moscow Attacks

During rush hour, a suicide bomb attack went off that killed 38 people and left 60 wounded. They believe that the bomber came from the Chechen rebels. The prime minister says how these terrorists will be "destroyed". Changes in the security system are going to be made.

This is of global importance because this is just another act of terrorism. Terrorism is everywhere. It may be portrayed differently in different countries, but it all causes death and horrible things. Although this is just one of the many terrorist attacks in the world, it is still a big deal and shouldn't be taken lightly.

South Korean Navy Ship Sinks

Late Friday night, A South Korean navy ship sank in the Yellow Sea near the island of Baengnyeong. The reasons for the ship sinking are still unclear, but they are not ruling out military engagement. There is no reason to suspect that North Korea is behind this yet. Except for the fact that there have been rumors that North Korea is bucking up their defense system due to South Korea-US military drills.

This is a issue that can rise to be a huge controversy. Things are very tense and unstable between North and South Korea. If people are going to assume that North Korea is behind this when they really are not, then North Koreans may feel threatened, and disputes may arise between the two neighboring countries.
