State Of The Union 2010

Even though this wasn't the largest word, I think that "jobs" is a major part of his State Of The Union speech. Of the little that I watched, his main focus was on changing some of the taxes and bills to make it more compatible for americans to get jobs. Our business industry has fewer jobs than it has in the past decade, and Obama is right to be focusing on jobs for Americans as one of the primary goals. In the speech, he didn't think that it was fair that people put themselves through college, only to find that they are going to be jobless once they get out. I think that this goal is very optimistic and can hopefully happen before the 2010 year is over. He also hit on other factors such as energy, economy americans, families, and reform. All of these things, and including the many more he said in his speech, are looking very optimistic for times to come. His ideas and plans that he has created sound very good and will hopefully be able to be followed through. These goals are the main ones to focus one, considering that solar energy and restoring our economy are areas of our nation that we need to improve in if we are going to remain as the leading world power.

Looking at Bush's last State Of the Union speech, his main focus's were Iraq, congress, troops, terrorists, citizens, and security. Looking at the wordle created, it looks like that Bush's main focus for the country was to fight the war in Iraq, and make sure the country was safe from terrorists. In my opinon, I don't think that this was a good goal to set for our country during that year. So many American troops died, and our economy began to drop drastically, all due to not paying attention to the larger things than war. Bush's mindset was that if we keep our country safe and stop the terrorists, that's what a good nation is. Although that is one aspect to keep in mind while looking at the fundamentals of a leading nation, Bush also should of taken into consideration the people of America, not just the troops fighting. That is what I believe has lead to the downfall of our economy and the US getting close to another depression. I think America as a whole as made it a lot farther in the past year, getting away from war and aiming more towards economy and efficient energy and new technology. War is important, but the country should come before the battles that it fights.
